The beginning of the tour

Saturday, May 11, a.m. and early p.m.

Today the needlework-tour group gathered at Heathrow Airport where the last two people were flying in. Everyone else had come in early. We met everyone and got on the large coach (NOT a bus!) which seats about 56 and we have only 19 people plus the driver, Stevie, and the tour guide, Maggie. Lots of room! And, everyone who wants a window seat can have one. After 4 days of hiking all over London, it was weird to be traveling a couple of hours on a coach to reach our first stop which was Peterborough.

Once we were settled into our hotel, we were able to wander around the town a little bit and had lunch on our own. Barbara and I tried Cornish pasties. (That's pronounced 'past - ees' not 'paste - ees'.) They weren't nearly as good as the ones I had in Australia and New Zealand; so I don't think that I'll get them again.
